CFL Players’ Association Announces New Executive Team

(Las Vegas, NV) The Player Representatives of the CFL Players’ Association met today at their 2016 AGM and elected their 2016-2017 Executive Committee.

We are proud to announce that 3rd Vice-President Jeff Keeping has been elected as the CFLPA’s new President, and 2nd Vice-President Marwan Hage has moved to 1st VP.  There are three new members elected to the Executive with the addition of Toronto Argonaut’s, Keon Raymond as 2nd VP.  and Josh Bourke as 3rd VP, and Peter Dyakowski of the Hamilton Tiger Cats who joined as Treasurer of the CFLPA. The Player Representatives and the CFLPA Executive Committee would like to acknowledge and thank both Scott Flory and Jay McNeil for their many years of service, hard work and dedication to the CFLPA and its membership. Their contributions over the years has left a lasting impact on the Association.

The announcement comes in conjunction with the hiring of new Executive Director Brian Ramsay, teamed with Legal Counsel Don Eady of the firm, Parliare Rolland Rosenberg Rothstein LLP, Senior Advisor Ken Georgetti, Senior Legal Advisor Art Vertlieb Q.C. and Special Advisor Jock Climie.

Newly elected President, Jeff Keeping stated “first I would like to thank Scott and Jay for their tenure and diligent work on behalf of the Association. The newly elected Executive bring valuable experience and leadership qualities from serving as long time Player Representatives. The re-election of Marwan Hage shows continuity within the Executive as we strive to best serve our members.”

Keeping further stated “the hiring of Brian Ramsay as the Executive Director brings not only a wealth of intimate knowledge of the League and our Association, but also a proven business executive in the financial industry. We have not only hired an Executive Director, but an Executive Team of the most experienced labour negotiators, litigators and counsel in the country. This announcement comes through the hard work of our Player Representatives, Executives and Staff and we are excited to continue building towards the 2016 season and beyond.

In addition there were also changes made to the CFLPA Constitution and By-Laws to include a provision whereby, should the entire Executive Committee be voted in as Nationals or Internationals, a 4th Vice-President position of  the opposite designation would be activated in order to ensure that there was a voice that represents all members of the Association. This position was not activated during the elections as International Keon Raymond was elected as 2nd VP.
