He spent most of the season on the Alouettes’ practice roster. Holness took part in the Grey Cup game, after he replaced Matthieu Proulx due to an injury. Won the Grey Cup with the Alouettes'.

Holness made the roster out of training camp after going undrafted in the 2008 CFL Draft. He dressed for every regular season game and the East semi-final. He made 10 tackles on special teams.
Holness appeared in 23 career games (15 regular season, eight playoffs) with the Gee-Gees over four seasons, including two seasons as a starter. Recorded 40 career tackles and four quarterback sacks. In CEGEP captured a Bol d’Or AA provincial championship with CEGEP John Abbott.
Ran track at University of Ottawa and had the fastest 40-yard dash time on the team (4.45 seconds). Speed coach is Glenroy Gilbert, a former Olympian.
