In 17 games, Gesse recorded 12 special teams tackles and one forced fumble. Gesse was placed on the one-game injured list in Week 12 against Winnipeg, but was activated for Week 13 against Winnipeg. Gesse recorded a career-high four special teams tackles in Week 16 against Saskatchewan.
In 18 games, Gesse recorded 15 special teams tackles.
Joash was off to a great start in 2011 with four special team tackles in the first three outings of the season, but suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week Three and spent the rest of the season on the club’s injured list.
Joash primarily played on special teams. Joash appeared in 11 regular season games, where he recorded 9 special teams tackles.
Gesse spent four seasons at Montreal where he was a force in the Carabins' defensive corps. As a junior in 2008, he was named a Canadian and Quebec First-Team All-Star in addition to being recognized as Quebec's Defensive Player of the Year. As a freshman, he was given the nod as Quebec's Rookie of the Year (2006), was named a gold medalist and an all-star at the NFL Global Junior Championship.
Gesse studied to be a math teacher at the University of Montreal and is a former college teammate of fellow Lions 2010 Draft pick Hamid Mahmoudi.
