2008

Bates played in all 18 games for the fourth straight season and now holds a 73-game consecutive streak in the starting lineup. A key member of an offensive line that helped to cut BC’s sacks allowed from 56 in 2006 to just 32 in 2007 and 33 in 2008.

2007

Kelly had his finest season as a BC Lion earning West and CFL all-star status for the first time and started all 18 games at guard.

2006

Started all 18 games as well as the 2006 West Championship and 2006 Grey Cup. Showing versatility, Kelly moved to centre during the game versus Edmonton in Week 4 filling in for an injured Angus Reid.

2005

Started all 18 regular season games as well the 2005 West Championship game.

2004

Missed 7 games due to a knee injury and made 11 starts.

College

Bates attended the University of Saskatchewan where he was a core member of the team's offensive line. He won a Vanier Cup with the Huskies in 1998.
