Marcus Ball is the son of Catherine Geiger and Reggie Ball. His older brothers are Reggie Ball Jr., a former Georgia Tech quarterback, and Raeshon Ball, a former defensive back at Chattanooga. Marcus was born in Virginia but grew up near Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Stephenson High School where he was named First-Team All-Star and District Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Stephenson is the same high school attended by current CFL players Byron Parker and Anthony Cannon, and former CFL players Sean Lucas and Michael Grant.
