2008

Zac spent the season as the Lions third quarterback and dressed for all 18 games.  Saw limited action but made his CFL playing debut on Sep 27/08 vs Hamilton. Completed his two pass attempts that game for 11 yards and a TD adding a 19-yard run. Also played briefly on Oct 25/08 vs Toronto. Dressed for both playoff games but did not play.

College

Appeared in 31 games over five years at Louisiana Tech, the final 25 games as the team’s starting quarterback. In all, Champion threw for 4,725 yards and 27 TD’s on 423 completions (767 attempts). Champion also carried the ball for 580 yards on 163 carries and added two TD’s on the ground. He finished his career with Tech’s eighth best career passing yards total and tied for tenth best in TD’s.

Personal

Zac was a Liberal Arts major and Louisiana Tech. During his high school days, he helped lead Bessemer Academy to the 2002 Alabama Independent Schools Association state championship title and a perfect 13-0 record. He completed 101 of 175 passes for 1,948 yards 19 touchdowns that year and also rushed for 784 yards. A versatile athlete, Champion also played shortstop for the Bessemer baseball team.
